Amsterdam is one of those city that it seems that every street or neighborhood is like copy paste of each other, but it so cool that every store or home is different inside. We seriously got lost, because all the canals look the same.
Me and my designer pal, Marlou, wanted to take a glimpse in the pop-up store of Karwei (which is a hardware store, but also sells beautiful furniture, decor and art pieces). So, up we went to Amsterdam with our google maps on.
The store is located in one of the cutest streets of De 9 straatjes neighborhood of Amsterdam. The store is located in an beautiful old resorted building. With those beautiful features, I was ready to move in. I already saw myself living on the basement level and having my office on the entry level. Just a gorgeous space.
Karwei wanted to bring the interior trends and Style Statement of autumn 2018 to life in a surprising way. And the space is also used to give interior design advice to the consumers but also get a chance to participate in workshops held there. They also asked several dutch influencers do design their own room in there. One room got several makeovers over the past weeks. Like the above shot was styled by interior stylist Tanja van Hoogdalem.
The soft color pink is here to stay for a while. But adding black elements like the steel frame door is a great balance in soft and a bit tough. Making it a glass door keeps the airy look in the space.
When you enter the store, you’ll see a long table with all these different lamps hanging above it. I couldn’t get a good shot of the table as they were cleaning up after a woodworking workshop that they just had there. The see-through elements of the lamps makes it not a heavy and crowdy look on the table.
The different kinds of wallpaper at Karwei is just immense. So much choices, it’s insane. And I really loved that tiled floor on the entry level. Using wallpaper in a room is an easy way to change up a look and be playful in your space. Go for basic or more adventures. The choices are all out there. De Karwei Huis is open until November 29. If you get a chance, take a trip to Amsterdam and be inspired by this building and the beautiful decorated interior.
